Our History

As you might expect, financial reporting and tax services are important elements of our practice, but they do not define us. Since 1952, we have helped clients meet challenges and plan for tomorrow. The most important factor in our success has been and is our dedication to clients. We are committed to helping them achieve their objectives. Whatever the specific services we are engaged to provide, our people work to identify and respond to our clients' needs.

GC includes six members, three additional professional accountants, and three support staff. We believe that our emphasis on experience means that we are better able to efficiently deliver the highest quality service and advice.

We are based in West Hartford and have two additional offices in Vernon, CT, and Springfield, MA. Two of our professionals live in the Vernon area, two in West Hartford and two in the Farmington Valley area.

John Prendergast, CPA

John

John Prendergast graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1973. He worked for two international accounting firms and one large local accounting firm for several years. He established his own firm in 1986 and has concentrated his efforts in taxation matters of small businesses, trusts, estates, and individual clients. He has lived in the greater Hartford area all his life. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is the current treasurer of the Ron Foley Foundation Inc. and was a past president of the Exchange Club of West Hartford and has been involved in numerous other professional and charitable organizations. He also coached various youth sports for many years in West Hartford.

 

 

 

 Salvatore Giuliano, CPA

Sa;

Sal is GC's managing member.  Sal is a 1985 graduate of the University of Connecticut. He came to GC in 1985 and was admitted as a member in 1995. Sal belongs to both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, in which he has been an active member and served on several committees. Sal has chaired the Public Relations Committee and has served on the Accounting and Auditing Technical committees. Currently, he serves on the Advisory Council for the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. Sal is a current member of the Connecticut Chapter of EO (Entrepreneurs Organization) and is a former treasurer and president of Bloomfield Rotary Club. Sal and his family reside in Granby, CT.  

 

 

 

Guy A Giantonio, CPA

Guy is a 1986 graduate of Bryant College, now Bryant University.  Guy has practiced in public accounting for over 35 years and established his own firm in 2000.  His concentrations are in taxation, financial and advisory services as related with small closely held businesses and individuals.  Guy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.  During his career, Guy has served on various charitable events and professional organizations.  Guy is an avid golfer and spent over twenty years coaching youth basketball under the guidance of the American Athletic Union (AAU).  Guy resides in Plainville and is married to Cynthia and has three daughters, Kelsea, Mekaela and Brigett. 

 

 

 

Charles L. Lemkin, CPA, MST

Chuck

Chuck is a 1972 graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts, from which he received a Bachelor of Business Administration.  He also holds a Master of Science in Taxation from the University of Hartford.  After graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Chuck was employed by Fulco, Gitlin Halpern & Campise. Later, he was employed by Halpern, Smith & Co., Siskin, Shapiro & Co., Coopers & Lybrand, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, before returning to GitlinCampisePrendergast, LLC  in 1999 and becoming a member of the firm in 2000.  Chuck has serviced a wide variety of clients including physicians, manufacturers, retailers, restaurants, automotive dealerships, and individuals.  His areas of practice include compilation and review of financial statements, tax return preparation, tax planning, and representation before the Internal Revenue Service and state tax authorities.  He belongs to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. Chuck is a member of the AICPA Tax Section.  Chuck was born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts.  He and his wife, Linda, live in Vernon, Connecticut.   

Curt E. Campise, CPA

Curt

Curt is a 1989 graduate of Bryant College, Smithfield, RI, and has pursued graduate studies in taxation at the University of Hartford, Hartford, CT. He has been with GC since 1989 and was admitted as a member in 2000. He belongs to both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and is a member of the AICPA Tax Division. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Indian Valley YMCA, a corparator of ECHN, a member of the ECHN Planned Giving Committee, and a member of the Board of Governors of Ellington Ridge County Club. Curt and his family live in Tolland, CT.  

 

 

 

 

Robert J Koury, CPA, JD  

Rob is a 1975 graduate of Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York.  He is a 1979 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law and was admitted to the bar in the State of Connecticut. His professional career includes twenty years as a partner in a local public accounting firm before establishing his own in 1994.  On January 1, 2021, Rob merged his practice with the firm of GitlinCampisePrendergast, LLC as a partner/member. His focus has been on taxation matters for corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts, and estates. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. 

 

 

 

 

 Louis D. Vamvakas, CPA

Louis

Lou is a 1996 graduate of Franklin Pierce University, Rindge, NH. He joined the firm in 2002 and was admitted as a member in 2009. He is responsible for providing a diverse range of tax and accounting services for the firm’s clients including preparation of financial statements, individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns, as well as software implementation and training. He belongs to both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is currently a member of the West Hartford Rotary Club. Lou and his family reside in Bristol, CT.  

    

 

 

 

Brent Wargo, CPA

Brent is a 2011 graduate of the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT. He joined the firm in 2015 and was admitted as a member in 2022. Brent brings more than 11 years of audit, financial, and small-to-medium sized business tax experience to his role as a Certified Public Accountant. Brent belongs to both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. He currently holds the Treasurer position for YouCanLoveLife, Inc. foundation and the American Marketing Association, Connecticut chapter. When he’s not working, Brent spends his free time with his wife Alyssa traveling and attending sporting events. 

  

 

 

 

Kathleen Mckeon, CPA

Kathleen graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 2005. She joined the firm in September 2017 and was admitted as a member in 2023. She is responsible for providing a diverse range of tax and accounting services to the firm’s clients including preparation of financial statements, individual, trust, estate, corporate, and partnership tax returns. She belongs to the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.

 

 

 

 

 

  Karen Kane, EA

KKane

Karen graduated from Northwestern Connecticut Community College in 1978 with an Associates Degree in Secretarial Sciences with a concentration in business. In 1980, Karen earned an Associates Degree in Behavioral Sciences. In 1978 Karen was hired as a secretary for a local CPA firm. Since then she first worked her way up to Office Manager/Bookkeeper, then to Accountant. In 2009, Karen passed the Enrolled Agent exam, granting her the privilege of practicing before the IRS. She has a diverse range of experience including Trust and Estate accounting and tax returns, Individual, Corporate, and Partnership tax returns, as well as payroll filings and training and assisting clients with bookkeeping.  Karen and her family reside in Collinsville, CT. 

 

 

 

 Evan Vold, CPA, MSAT, EA

Evan boasts more than 15 years of experience working with individuals and businesses in tax representation, preparation and planning. Evan graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, and his dedication led him to further his expertise by earning a Master's degree in Taxation from the University of Hartford in 2012. Evan proudly holds two prestigious professional designations: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Enrolled Agent (EA), underscoring his profound knowledge and proficiency in tax matters. Residing in Winchester, Connecticut, Evan enjoys a fulfilling family life with his wife and two young daughters. During the summer months, you can often find him and his family embarking on memorable cruises in their beautifully restored 1969 Firebird convertible. Beyond his professional achievements, Evan actively contributes to his community in various capacities. He serves as the volunteer Treasurer for the Winchester Center Congregational Church, where his financial expertise proves invaluable in supporting the church's operations and charitable initiatives. Additionally, Evan is an engaged member of both the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA) and the Simsbury-Granby Rotary Club. His involvement in these organizations highlights his commitment to giving back to the community and forging meaningful connections within it. In June 2023, Evan Vold joined the esteemed team at Gitlin & Company, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to further enhance the firm's capabilities. His affiliation and collaboration with the firm date back to 2015, underscoring his enduring commitment to the organization and its clients.

 

Kayla Seenarine

Kayla graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2018 with her BS in Accounting and received her MS in Accounting at Post University in 2020. She joined the firm in 2022 and has four years experience in public accounting. Kayla is responsible for providing a diverse range of tax and accounting services including preparation of financial statements, individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns to the firm’s clients.  She resides with her husband and puppy in Rocky Hill, CT. 

 

 

  

 

 

Theresa Santapaola, CPA 

Terry graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She worked as an investment accountant for several years at The Travelers before making the move to public accounting.  She has worked in public accounting for over twenty years, including many years as a sole practitioner. She joined the firm in late 2020 as part of the merger with Robert J. Koury, CPA after being an employee of his firm for seven years. She is responsible for providing a diverse range of tax and accounting services to the firm’s clients. She resides in Wethersfield with her husband, Sal and their three children. 

 

 

 

  

Matthew Janick

Matt graduated from Central Connecticut State University with his BS in Accounting in 2016. Matt joined the firm in 2021 and has over five years of experience in public accounting. He is responsible for providing a diverse range of tax and accounting services including preparation of financial statements, individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns to the firm’s clients. He resides with his wife in Plainville, CT. 

 

 

 

 

 

Brandon Sze

Brandon graduated from Assumption University in 2021. He worked at another accounting firm before joining in June 2022. He currently resides in South Windsor, CT. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Briane Binge

Brianne graduated from Central Connecticut State University with her BS in Accounting in 2005.  Brianne joined the firm in 2022 and has over sixteen years of experience in public accounting.  She is responsible for providing a diverse range of tax and accounting services including preparation of financial statements, individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns, tax planning, and software implementation and training. Brianne has been the Treasurer of Cub Scout Pack 41 in Berlin for over 5 years. Brianne and her family reside in Berlin, CT. 

 

 

 

 

Katie Anderson

Katie graduated from Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She then went on to obtain her Master’s degree in Accountancy with a concentration in Forensic Accounting from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts. She started her public accounting career at Ernst & Young focusing on preparation and audit of financial statements, corporate and partnership tax returns. Katie joined the firm in September of 2022 and has three years of experience in both private and public accounting. Katie is responsible for providing a diverse range of tax and accounting services including preparation of individual, corporate and partnership tax returns. She currently resides in Enfield, CT. 

 

 

  

Michelle Moorcroft

Michelle joined our firm during a merger with Guy A Giantonio. Formerly she was the Office Manager at Paquette Giantonio & Company, LLC. She joined our Admin team where she quickly excelled and sought out challenging tasks to further her accounting knowledge. During the Summer of 2022, Michelle completed a course in Financial Statements at Tunxis Community College. Because of Michelle’s enthusiasm to learn and determination to advance, she has been offered and accepted a position within the Company as a Paraprofessional. Her focus will be shifted to accounting work; allowing her to further her knowledge in the accounting cycle and tax preparation. Michelle also doubles as a Photographer in the Wedding industry. As she likes to say, “If it’s not tax season, it’s wedding season.” Michelle resides in Rocky Hill with her husband, two children, and two French Bulldogs. She enjoys a good Dad joke and spending time with her family.

GC's members are Certified Public Accountants. We belong to both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, and we subscribe to their standards.

Our people follow developments in accounting, auditing, taxation, and other areas so that we can help our clients make decisions based on the latest information. Our commitment to continuing professional education is not limited to the 40 hours required annually for licensing. Our training schedule expands as necessary to ensure that our people have the right mix of technical expertise.
